Best of the Best ● NYC

Sunday, December 18

"Of all the great cities in the world, New York is still the one that holds the biggest glittery, giddy promise of promise - the idea that if you have something to say, do, be, create, try, or conquer, you can do it here, that the romance of the self can actually be fulfilled. The young, ambitious types who set out for New York with movie-made notions of what's to come discover that the city is in fact better than the fantasy, because there's so much more to the place than they were able to imagine." - Roberta Myers

There's a feeling in New York during the holidays that you just can't get anywhere else. Thanks to the not-too-cold December weather, great restaurants and killer holiday decorations lining the streets, my four-day trip was just as amazing as I had hoped.

FIVE REASONS TO LOVE NYC:
1. It's filled with characters, making it the best people-watching place ever.
2. The window displays. Bergdorf Goodman is unbelievable.
3. The serenity of Central Park in the wintertime.
4. Herald Square, a new favorite. It's the perfect place to relax, right outside chaotic Macy's on 34th.
5. Holy cupcakes everywhere. Crumbs, Magnolia Bakery, pure perfection.

Sidenote: Luck was on my side during my trip. Not only did everything go as planned, but I also met with the editor of New York Resident and am now a contributing writer. You can check out two of my  articles in the upcoming January issue.

Atlanta ● Georgia: The Chattahoochee

Sunday, July 3

Sometimes a day of ruined plans can take a turn for the best.

While we had hoped to float down the Chattahoochee, by the time we made moves in the afternoon, there were no more tubes for rental. To ensure our 30-minute trip wasn't pointless, we drove a few miles until we reached another hang out spot on the river bank.

After wading through chilly currents, we claimed our territory on the rocks for a few hours. A classic summer day in the making: great people, great weather and great memories.

Atlanta ● Georgia: Sun In My Belly

Saturday, July 2

[Sun in My Belly: 2161 College Ave NE, Atlanta, GA]

It may be the cutest little restaurant in Atlanta -- or anywhere, for that matter. After a seven-hour drive the night before, egg whites and fruit was the only thing I could think about when I woke up. "Sun in My Belly" hit the spot, with it's Urban Outfitters-esque feel and creative presentations of great food.

Following suit with the theme of the cafe, our waitress was one of those people that gives off cool vibes in the most effortless and admirable way possible. After correctly guessing a friend's astrological sign based off his personality, she went around the table and confirmed everyone else's.

While I wish I could find more "Sun in My Belly" cafes, I know that would totally kill its uniqueness. And that would certainly be a shame.
